GREEN PROCUREMENT DAY

Coca-Cola HBC Serbia cooperates with suppliers to integrate sustainability into business

This was the third time that Coca-Cola HBC Serbia organized the Green Procurement Day aimed at raising awareness and sharing experience in the field of sustainable business among its suppliers. The event gathered about 40 suppliers, who together with the company representatives discussed how to make their businesses more sustainable and the "green" solutions they should implement to that end.

Over 90 percent of our carbon emissions are indirect, i.e. emissions in our value chain. To reach our goal of zero emissions by 2040, it is crucial that we work together with our partners and suppliers. That is why we organize this unique event for the third time - the Green Procurement Day, where we share good practices, both of Coca-Cola HBC and of our suppliers, and together we discuss how to design sustainable solutions in our business.

The "green" fleet stood out as a special topic. More than 90% of vehicles at Coca-Cola HBC Serbia are low-emission vehicles, i.e. hybrid and LPG vehicles. Furthermore, when choosing trucks to transport its products, the Company also chooses low emission options, so it now uses 15 trucks that run on cleaner fuels, which means less CO2 emissions. The representatives of the Company partners also shared their solutions in this area: BMW, Mercedes Benz, Renault and Toyota.

Miroslav Vrcelj from Emil Frey Star Import, the general distributor of Mercedes-Benz, shared his impressions from the Green Procurement Day: "What made the biggest impression on me was to learn the amount of attention that Coca-Cola HBC pays and invests in sustainable business. I was particularly impressed by the introduction of electric vehicles in their fleet and the application of solar panels to reduce energy consumption".

Igor Životić from Delta transportni sistemi stated: "I liked the innovations in the field of sustainable business, such as switching to different freight vehicles, as well as the solutions presented by DS Smith related to sustainable packaging."

The suppliers with whom certain sustainable solutions have already been implemented received Certificates of Appreciation. Pan-Ledi was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for its contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions in transport, Eksino for improving energy efficiency, reducing waste packaging and extending oil change intervals, while Banim was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for placing and implementing recycled shelves on the market.
